The South Korean Yonhap news agency reported that Robert Park, 28, arrived in Beijing after he was freed.
His release comes after Park appeared on North Korean television, saying he felt embarrassment and shame over a “biased view” of North Korea. He slipped into North Korea on Christmas Day carrying letters critical of Kim Jong Il, the country’s leader.
North Korea on Friday said it would soon release Park from custody.
