mexWashington, July 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Arizona immigration law suffered a major blow as the U.S. government has filed a legal challenge against the state law of immigration that is due to take effect on 29 July onwards. The immigration law made by the state of Arizona is being opposed by President of United States Barack Obama along with the Mexican government and some civil rights group. The legal filing against the state’s law was done on Tuesday at a federal court in Arizona.

The Obama Administration on Tuesday launched the attack by claiming that the sole authority to set rules for the arrest of illegal immigrants is none but the Washington Assembly. The lawsuit mentions that “In our constitutional system, the federal government has pre-eminent authority to regulate immigration matters” adding at the same time that Federal laws do not permit a “patchwork” between the state and local immigration policies to govern the rule of immigration. The lawsuit has asked the court to delay the implementation of the state immigration law until the present case is resolved.

The strict immigration law of the state of Arizona was signed by the Governor of the state Jan Brewer on April and since then it has created a panic among many people who have been living in the state without proper immigration papers. Recently a survey found that many Hispanics have been leaving the state with the fear of facing the law that is to take effect from the end of July. The Arizona state had maintained that the law was being implemented as the federal government has failed to regulate the huge immigration to the state. The lawsuit then will increase the pressure on the federal government to address the issue of immigration.
