Arizona 3-year-old shoots self in head after finding gun
February 7th, 2010 - 4:15 am ICT by BNO NewsQUEEN CREEK, ARIZONA (BNO NEWS) — A three-year-old Queen Creek, Arizona boy was seriously injured on Saturday after shooting himself in the head, officials said.
The shooting happened around 11.45 a.m. local time. Rural Metro Fire Department spokesman Mark Cichocki said the boy was airlifted to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, where he remains in critical condition.
Cichocki said the boy found a 9mm handgun under a couch at his home, and shot himself in the head. The spokesman said the boy was breathing when he left the scene, but remains in critical condition.
It was not immediately clear who the gun belonged to, and if any charges will be filed.
