Cairo, Jun 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The archaeologists who were working on the tomb of Seti I since the last 23 years have been successful at last. They were lucky enough to find a tunnel in the unfinished ancient tomb as well.

Seti I was the ruler of Egypt around 3000 years ago. The team that was searching for the secret tunnel, was headed by the antiquities chief Zahi Hawass. He said that it took his team around 3 years to dig the 174 meter-long tunnel. And the team was also lucky enough to find some pieces of pottery and even some parts of some statues in the secret tunnel.

The tunnel and the tomb are replete with a false door on which it is inscribed that, “Move the door jamb up and make the passage wider”. “It appears that Seti I was trying to construct a secret tomb inside a tomb,” according to Hawass.

The culture minister of Egypt – Faruq Hosni was delighted with the discovery and he added that the diligent team had been “searching for this tunnel for over twenty years in the West Bank necropolis” of Luxor, which is located in the southern part of Egypt.
