November 25, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Chums and relatives of former American student, Amanda Knox, who has been incarcerated in Italy after being convicted of the slaughter of her 21-year-old British flat mate, Meredith Kercher, articulated their hopefulness on Wednesday that Amanda will be exonerated as her appeal against her conviction has commenced. The 23-year-old Amanda, who hails from Seattle, was awarded the punishment of 26 years in a dungeon in December for her participation in the massacre of Kercher, which, the judges have uttered, took place following a hyperactive sexual contest that became unmanageable.
Amanda’s then beau, Raffaele Sollecito, and another male, Rudy Guede, were also found guilty and presented prison terms. The appeal trial was instantaneously postponed to December 11, with hearings listed for December 18 and January 15.
Amanda’s moderate facial attractiveness has enthralled the Italian media’s concentration along with that of the overseas media. Amanda emerged in the courthouse manacled, with her Dad, Chris Mellas, uttering that she is alright and eager to experience her exoneration. Mellas, understandably, voiced that Amanda and her attorneys deem that they have credible evidence to demonstrate Amanda’s blamelessness.
Kercher’s seminude corpse was discovered in November 2007 in the blood-spattered house in which she coexisted with Amanda and two other students in the university town of Perugia. The prosecutors have voiced that Kercher, who had a profound stab-related wound in the throat, was forcibly subjected, by Amanda, to an intense sexual contest involving Guede and Sollecito, who gradually became abusive. The prosecutors have mentioned that Amanda was enraged by Kercher’s description of Amanda as filthy and licentious.
Amanda’s well-wishers have, along with some segments of the American media, declared that penalization for Amanda was a violation of justice and expressed confidence that she would be acquitted.
Amanda’s notaries have remarked that her conviction was in opposition to Italian and global laws and full of deficiencies. The quantity of hysterical media attention on this case has led to it being conducted in a prejudiced manner, which caused the conviction for Amanda. Her notaries have demanded a thorough reevaluation of all the forensic proof, which they assert, was tampered and contaminated, which engendered unsound and unreliable DNA results. Amanda’s attorneys have articulated that several conjectures were made during the trial against Amanda to convict her and these unreliable conjectures chipped away at Amanda’s defense of herself.
