May 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There have been several so called ‘Subway Heroes’ over the past years who risked their lives in order to save complete strangers, and in most cases, these brave people do not even stick around for the recognition they deserve. Take fore instance the story of Wesley Autry, who risked his life in 2007 by jumping onto the subway tracks to save a complete stranger, and then began to walk off as the crowd was still gathered.

Recalls a fire lieutenant who was on the scene, “He was just walking away,He was looking for nothing.” A cop who had been called to the scene at the W 135th St station yelled to him, “Hey you ain’t going nowhere, Come here!” The cop took down his name and such for paperwork, and the press arrived in time to make him famous.

In another story, Chad Lindsey jumped down from the C train tracks at Penn Station in order to save another man last year. He walked away without recognition, but his friends came forward to make sure he was known for his heroism. And now there is a third hero who, this time managed to get away unnoticed.

When Jessica Osht’a fainted and fell onto the tracks of the ‘L’ train of the New York Subway system, a stranger jumped onto the tracks, and attempted to drag her up. When he saw the train coming, and could not revive her, he pushed her down into the trench between the tracks, and jumped out of the way just in time to miss being hit by the train. Five cars rolled over the woman before the train managed to stop, and then rescuers and cops swarmed in to remove the woman from under the train-alive.

Amid the chaos, the hero disappeared before anyone had the chance to get his name. The search is on for this hero, so that he can receive the thanks and recognition he deserves, but it seems as though he may not want the attention. Although he may possibly be identified soon, many people all over the city are voicing their “Thank you” to the unknown hero.
