An Illinois man sentenced for marijuana trafficking in Nebraska

OMAHA, NEBRASKA (BNO NEWS) – A Oak Lawn, Illinois man was sentenced on Tuesday to five years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute over 100 kilograms of marijuana, prosecutors said.

Charles McMillin, 53, was stopped on Interstate 80 outside Lincoln, Nebraska for speeding on January 7, 2008. When the Nebraska State Patrol Trooper approached McMillin’s vehicle, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle’s interior. A subsequent search resulted in over 340 pounds of marijuana seized along with $3,000 in cash.

Illinois investigators executed a search warrant in McMillins residence. The agents found over 111 pounds of marijuana, drug packaging materials, ledgers and $26,960 from drug proceeds.
