An Earthquake in Indonesia

There was an earthquake in Seram, Indonesia with the magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake occurred on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 01:54:20 UTC ( Coordinated Universal Time ) and Friday, October 24, 2008 at 08:54:20 AM at epicenter local time as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter is 145 km (90 miles) ENE of Ambon, Moluccas, Indonesia, 335 km (210 miles) SW of Sorong, Papua, Indonesia, 1035 km (640 miles) N of DARWIN, Northern Territory, Australia, 2535 km (1570 miles) E of JAKARTA, Java, Indonesia.

Previously, there was an earthquake in Nias Region, Indonesia with the magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale with the epicenter of 235 km (145 miles) W of Sibolga, Sumatra, Indonesia, 300 km (185 miles) SW of Medan, Sumatra, Indonesia, 575 km (360 miles) WSW of KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, 1410 km (880 miles) NW of JAKARTA, Java, Indonesia.
