picassoJan 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Forgeries concerning art work has always remained a big problem in the sphere. A West Hollywood antiques dealer has allegedly done a heinous crime. The antiques dealer has been accused of hiring an artist and made him fabricate a Pablo Picasso pastel. The extraordinary creative work of Picasso namely “La Femme Au Chapeau Blue,” or “The Woman in the Blue Hat” was being forged. The accused antique dealer is Tatiana Khan who is sixty-nine year old is the owner of the Chateau Allegre gallery. She has been charged with wire frauds and different other crimes. Tatiana Khan is said to have paid the artist $1,000 and the pastel drawing was being sold for a whooping $2 million.

The purchaser’s mind was shrouded in mystery after Tatiana Khan claimed that the beautiful painting came from Malcolm Forbes family estate. After getting in touch with the Picasso experts he got to know that the painting was phony. Last year, FBI stepped in to deal with the case. Tatiana Khan has been accused of coming up with false statements. The FBI officials are of the opinion if the lady is convicted, she will have to serve a tenure of abut forty-five years.

Last Friday the FBI came across a genuine Willem de Kooning painting, who was an abstract expressionist, from Tatiana Khan. The antiques dealer have been accused of buying that painting with the $720,000 which she received after selling the fake painting of Picasso. Such criminal acts are indeed abhorred and proper punishment should be meted out to Tatiana Khan, once the charges are confirmed.
