Aug 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a report from ‘The Associated Press’ it was told that the rail service for the Northeast Corridor had been temporarily shut down due to power problem with Amtrack, or “low voltage problems that are also affecting regional commuter rail lines.” It was the second time that such a shut down had occurred in the last two weeks.

The problem effected the Northeast Corridor, which runs from Washington DC to Boston, Mass, Midtown Direct Trains and the North Jersey Coast Line, and the Philadelphia Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority announced that all of their rail service was temporarily shut down as well.

At the same time, Long Island Rail Road had huge delays as well since railroad workers were on the job trying to fix damages which were located at a switching station during a fire on Monday. According to the LIRR, there were 33 westbound trains canceled Tuesday morning.

But, the government owned Amtrack posted on it’s Twitter page minutes ago, “Overhead power has been restored along the Northeast Corridor. #Amtrak and commuter train services are resuming but delays will continue.”

And NJ TRANSIT announced on their webpage, “as of 9:45 a.m Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line trains are departing endpoint terminals on or close to schedule.” Apparently the isues are being resolved and trains should soon all be moving as normal once again.
