Washington DC, Aug 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amtrak officials have said that their operations have been disrupted because of a coal train derailment. The derailment affected most of the tracks and the rail is blocked, according to the Virginia Railway Express.

The company said its trains that run between Washington and Newport News, Va will be affected. Other trains that take the routes from New York to Miami, Charlotte, NC to Savanna, Ga and Lorton, Va to Sanford, Fla are also affected by the disruption. Most of the rails to these areas are blocked.

The Virginia Railway Express announced that it has canceled the Fredericksburg rail lines due to the coal train derailment. The accident happened south of Washington on Thursday and Amtrak warns that the disruption will continue deep into Friday.

The disruption will have serious effect on some parts of the affected regions since they mostly rely on the rail to send goods. However according to reports all the trains that were plying on the Manassas line were not affected at all.

However authorities are optimistic that the problem will be solved earlier than later to reduce the frustration of commuters. Transportation using the rail remains relatively cheaper in transporting goods in the United States.
