Butler County, Dec 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There have been many additions and omissions on the 2010 U.S. News & World Report, America’s Best High Schools list. The Fairfield High School has earned a spot on the list.

Another school Basis, which is a charter school, is ranked ninth, and University High, a magnet school, was No. 21 on the illustrious list of the best high schools of America.

Buffalo’s City Honors Schools is ranked 90th out of 100 on a U.S. News & World Report list of “America’s Best High Schools.”

Both these two schools have been regulars on this great list, because in 2007, Basis was placed 16th, while University was 13th. And in 2008, Basis placed 13th and University came in 22nd.

“We’re elated,” said University High Assistant Principal Tammy Janik. “We have a great school and a very dedicated staff, and it reflects in the academic success of our students.”

However the Basis Tucson Schools Director Carolyn McGarvey was happy to see their ranking improve over the years. “This shows we’re going in the right direction,” she said. “We work to get our students heavily invested at an early age, and it seems to work, because they are all eager to learn.”

The report analyzed 21,786 public high schools in 48 states plus the District of Columbia. However Nebraska and Oklahoma did not provide full data for the study.
