American Male On The American No-fly List Stranded In Egypt

June 17, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Yahya Wehelie is an American male from Virginia. Yahya, a Muslim, has been stranded in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, for six weeks. This is because the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of America has been analyzing his alleged associations with terrorists since Yahya purportedly bumped into a terrorist in an informal encounter. The FBI has placed Yahya in a no-fly list. The ban by the FBI on Yahya from embarking a flight to New York has left Yahya high and dry. No-fly catalogs in America have burgeoned lately as the American Government’s Terrorist Screening Center has come down harshly on terror suspects.
Yahya had voyaged to Yemen 18 months ago with his younger brother since his mother desired that her sons comprehend Arabic. There, Yahya stumbled upon a Somali female, whom he was smitten by. He tied the knot with her and intended to return to America with his wife and finish his education.
Subsequent to flying to Cairo with his younger brother, the two were arrested by the Egyptian powers that be. The younger brother was supposedly incarcerated by the Egyptian police personnel. He had to endure three days in a prison cell, with him being shackled to a wall. Subsequent to his discharge, Yahya was entitled to return to America but an interruption by the FBI has left him marooned. Yahya’s passport was annulled and he, presently, is residing in a low-priced Cairo motel and satisfying his tummy by consuming snack food.
Yahya has now vented his frustration. He has stated that he endorses the American Government’s resolve to battle global terrorism. However, what has bamboozled him is his victimization by the American Government. He has mentioned passionately that he desires to come back to America since it is his beloved home. He mentioned that he even articulated to the FBI to place him in an airplane in manacles with a cluster of American marshals.
Yahya has disconsolately articulated that the FBI agent, in front of whom he beseeched his guiltlessness, uttered unfeelingly that Yahya go to America by sea.
Nihad Awad, of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, has mentioned that Yahya’s confinement transports an inappropriate message to American Muslims that they are substandard citizens, who will be targeted due to their faith. The hunt for safety is encroaching upon the human rights of innocents.
