American human trafficker arrested in Tijuana, Mexico
February 26th, 2010 - 12:41 pm ICT by BNO NewsTIJUANA, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) – A U.S. national was arrested in Mexico on charges of human trafficking, local state police said Thursday.
Gilberto Ortega Rubio, 22, is a wanted suspect in the United States for trafficking narcotics and illegal aliens.
Alfredo Arenas Moreno, who coordinates international networking for Mexican state police, was informed by state authorities that Ortega Rubio had been sighted on the streets of Tijuana.
Ortega Rubio was quickly identified and detained downtown Tijuana. Paperwork is currently being processed for his eventual extradition.
With Ortega Rubio’s arrest, the number of foreign arrests in Mexico increased to 301 since its program to capture international fugitives hiding in that country was launched .
