Washington, Apr 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a recent development, the Obama administration has given its nod for the killing or capture of a Muslim Radical cleric named Anwar al-Awlaki who is suspected of planning several attacks on the USA. It is believed that he is in Yemen these days. He has a US citizenship and is accused of plotting the bombing of an US bound airliner. There are several other allegations pending against him. The US officials have expressed their worries that Yemen is gradually turning out to be a safe hiding zone for the extremist militant organizations. The Yemen government is trying to trace him as well.
It is generally unusual for the CIA to get approval from the National Security Council of the President. The US officials have said that the cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki poses a threat to the security of the USA. He was born in the USA and worked as an imam in US states like Virginia, California and Colorado. His fiery preaching made him a favorite with the Islamic radicals. He tried to present violence as a sacred duty in his speeches. He left the USA in 2007 shifted to Yemen. He is said to have close links with Al Qaeda and similar organizations.
It is suspected that he was involved with Fort Hood shootings which caused 13 casualties. He can become the target of unmanned drones of the US air force. It is also believed that he performs recruitment tasks of terrorist groups. The US officials admitted that the move is almost unprecedented but the kind of activities the cleric is involved in leaves no other choice.
