It is generally unusual for the CIA to get approval from the National Security Council of the President. The US officials have said that the cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki poses a threat to the security of the USA. He was born in the USA and worked as an imam in US states like Virginia, California and Colorado. His fiery preaching made him a favorite with the Islamic radicals.
