Dec.04 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Within a few hours the fate of Amanda Knox, convicted in the murder of Meredith Kercher [her roommate] will be decided. An Italian jury is going to decide if the twenty-something American student is really guilty of that controversial murder or not. The ghastly incident took place at Perugia in 2007. Knox has served two years of imprisonment along with her Italian ex-boyfriend also in his twenties while facing murder charges. She is a resident of Seattle.

The jury that is going to decide her fate comprises of two judges and Perugia residents. A distinct fast track court has convicted Rudy Hermann Guede, a young Ivorian immigrant, in the murder already. He will have to serve a 30 year long imprisonment sentence. Kercher, a Briton in her early twenties was found killed in her room and the evidence of strangulation and stabbing were found on her naked body. She used to share a place with the accused and two women. Giuliano Mignini, a prosecutor accused Knox of plotting the heinous murder by means of a devised sex game and drug abuse. The prosecutor is of the opinion that the three accused tried to misguide the law and police by a staged burglary.

Knox has tried to defend herself and pleaded to be innocent throughout the trial. She repeated that she is not guilty of the murder. The lawyers trying to defend her have stressed on lack of enough evidence. Since the Italian Law does not have any provision for death, the prosecutors want life imprisonment for Knox and her ex boyfriend.
