Hoboken, New Jersey, Sept 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Darius McCollum has been arrested on the charge of stealing a Trailways bus, which he had been driving out of Hoboken in New Jersey. He had been convicted of the crime and is currently in jail. However, he is poles apart from any other thief who specializes in stealing the public transport vehicles. For one, he has been arrested not once or twice, but 27 times including the latest arrest on Tuesday. Secondly, he is the victim of the Asperger’s Syndrome, a rare form of autism, in which the afflicted person becomes fixated on any random object, which, in Darius McCollum’s case, is the means of public transport.
The police reported that Darius McCollum had entered a bus depot on Tuesday, and had come across the Trailways coach with the keys still inside. He had made away with it, but the police tracked the car down with the help of satellite global positioning system. The car got pulled over in New York, and the man driving it appeared to deal with the situation quite smartly, admitting that he had a fascination for cars.
In fact, Darius McCollum is certainly not the average thief. In an interview while behind bars, he commented that big locomotives and their wheels always held a fascination for him, something that he had harbored since he was just a toddler and used to travel a lot via the tube with his mother. He also went on to say that with his knowledge and understanding of the public transport system of New Jersey, the best job that would suit him would be in the transport system security or counter-terrorism.
