Sep 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Approximately one thousand people in various shades of black showed up to pay homage to the life of designer Alexander McQueen, who committed suicide back in February.

The artist was said to have been “deeply troubled but found joy in beautiful clothes and presenting them in extraordinary settings”. One of the speakers, Suzy Menkes, who is the fashion editor at the ‘International Herald Tribune’ stated that St Paul’s would have been “his ultimate venue.”

The service started at 11 am , and featured two choirs leading the clerical procession as they walked past McQueen’s dad, Ronald, and his family members on one side, while his friends and professional acquaintances sat on the other.

Among the people there were such names as Stella McCartney and Hussein Chalayan, Sarah Jessica Parker, the models Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, and Daphne Guinness.
