Alameda County Fair Attacked By Yellow Bees

yellow-jacketJuly 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton on Friday, July 2, saw a massive attack of yellow bees where around 100 people were stung by them. The Fire department authorities say that the bee hive was apparently disturbed by the vibrations of fireworks display and the angry bees swarmed the crowd of spectators as a result of that. The fireworks started at around 9:15 p.m. and halfway through it, by 9:30 there were people shouting at the attack of the bees made and making their way to the first aid counters in the fair. As many as 5,000 people, according to official report, had supposedly gathered at the grounds in order to observe the fireworks display.

The Alameda County Fire Department spokesperson, Aisha Knowles afterwords said that around 9:30 p.m., just 15 minutes after the fireworks show started a group of yellow bees gathered at the north end of the grandstands. All of a sudden people felt horrible pain and rushed towards the nearby first aid counters for the medicine. Later the nest was cleared from the area for further safety.

Alameda County firefighters say that that they treated nearly 100 people and the victims ranged from a 6 months old infant to 60 year old adult. There were no reports of allergic infection or no one was taken to the hospital due to any serious injuries. The County Fair first aid station attended the patients and took care of their safety. The Alameda County Fair also faced a serious situation of accident the day before on Thursday after a chain on the Wacky Worm, a roller coaster ride broke and injured five children and two adults.
