bishop-articleinlineAlabama, June 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amy Bishop a former biology professor who worked in University of Alabama Huntsville got indicted Wednesday for killing her brother way back in 1986. She shot her brother to death in Massachusetts.

She was charged with shooting three colleagues in February. The court has charged her with first degree murder which in the eyes of the law is a grave offense. Initially the death of her brother was dubbed an accident. After she was arrested in a shooting rampage the case was reopened by the regional district attorney’s office.

She told the investigators that she asked her brother to show her how to unload a shotgun when it accidentally went off and he died in the accident. Reports say that she tried to flee the spot after the accident. She was never charged for that.

The police in Massachusetts reportedly released her without carrying out a deep investigation. However, the truth came out later. She shifted to Alabama in 2003 with her spouse and kids. When her brother was killed in 1986 her mother told the cops that she shooting was purely accidental. This possibly helped her escape the hands of law at that time.

The prosecutors who earlier reached the conclusion that she killed her brother by accident are saying now that the cops failed to find compelling evidence to nab her back then. She reportedly tried to hijack a car after that shooting incident.

She will have to face trial in Alabama first and after that she could be sent to Massachusetts for the trial there. Her husband and attorney did not talk to the media after the indictment.
