Militants had taken hostage over 300 hundred students in Pakistan.
Reports indicate that the militants took about 300 hostages inside a Pakistani school in the North West Frontier Province. The hostages were students.
The 300 children have been freed after the Al-Qaeda and Taliban linked militants who took them hostages were ambushed by the locals.
The children were all freed unharmed. The local residents armed themselves and killed two explosives strapped militants while one of them managed to escape.
According to sources on the ground the armed residents ambushed the school and shot at the militants, killing two of them while the third escaped. The two dead militants had explosives strapped to their bodies and they blew up during the gun battle. Police are assessing whether the militants blew themselves up or had exploded after being hit by bullets.
