KABUL (BNO NEWS) — A Taliban sub-commander and two other militants were arrested in central-east Afghanistan on Monday, the NATO-led ISAF alliance said.

The arrests were made after an Afghan-international security force searched a series of buildings north of the village of Chinah, in the Chak-e Wardak district of Wardak province, after intelligence information indicated militant activity.

The force arrested a Taliban sub-commander, who is believed to be responsible for conducting reconnaissance and planning attacks against coalition forces. Two other insurgents were also detained, NATO said.

In another operation, on Sunday, an ISAF patrol stopped a vehicle in the Kandahar district of Kandahar province. The alliance said the vehicle was driving erratically and, when questioned, the driver gave evasive answers.

The patrol decided to search the vehicle and discovered 140 lbs of hashish, which were turned over to the Afghan National Police.

There were no reports of casualties during these operations.
