Additional U.S. soldiers to support NATO operations in Afghanistan
August 18th, 2009 - 7:27 pm ICT by adminHEIDELBERG, Germany (BNO NEWS) — Approximately 180 American soldiers stationed in Germany will be deployed to Afghanistan to support NATO operations in the country, the U.S. Army in Europe said on Tuesday.
The soldiers are currently stationed at Victory Corps in Heidelberg, Germany and have been directed by the U.S. Department of Defense to begin preparations for deployment to Afghanistan in support of NATO operations.
The V(ictory) Corps soldiers, plus additional enablers, will deploy over the next several weeks from Germany to Kabul, said Bruce Anderson, a U.S. spokesman in Germany.
