Salmon, Feb 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) For sometime an accused Boston mobster disguised himself as a rancher in Idaho to prevent being arrested.

When he appeared before court on Wednesday, 42-year-old Enrico M. Ponzo pleaded not guilty to the charges of attempted murder, racketeering and other charges.

The FBI has been on the hunt for Ponzo since 1994. He was a member of the La Cosa Nostra in New England. The group has been accused of murder, drugs and other federal crimes. Ponzo managed to escape in Boston in 1994 and has been living in Idaho under a new alias.

For years people who knew him in Idaho knew him as Jeffrey John Shaw. The citizens of Marsing were shocked to learn that the man they knew as “Jay” was a wanted mobster. He lived his life as a stay-at-home dad and was known to some of the 800 inhabitants of the community. He had built a house at the community.

When he appeared before the court on Wednesday, Ponzo waived his right to a federal trial in Idaho and opted that he should be sent to Boston and tried there. Prosecutors want Ponzo to remain in custody while arrangements are made to transport him to Massachusetts on Friday.
