WASHINGTON (BNO NEWS) — The accused 9/11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is likely to be executed after trial, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said on Sunday.

The Obama administration said on November, 2009 that it would prosecute Mohammed and four accused September 11 co-conspirators in a Manhattan federal courtroom, just blocks away from where suspected Al Qaeda operatives destroyed the World Trade Center Towers on September 11, 2001.

After fierce criticism because of costs and security, a federal source told The New York Times on Friday that the White House is considering other places to try the suspects.

Gibbs spoke on CNN’s “State of The Union”.
