‘Accident’ at Harare International Airport is a drill

HARARE (BNO NEWS) — Britain’s Foreign Office on Thursday said that a reported plane accident at Harare International Airport in Zimbabwe appears to be a drill, and not a real incident.

David Chawota, the General Manager and CEO of the country’s Civil Aviation Authority, initially told BNO News that an aircraft was involved in an accident. “There was an accident,” he said. “We will give you more information in a few minutes.”

Chawota could not say if the aircraft had crashed, or give details about the accident, but said there were some injuries. He said the aircraft involved was a Boeing 767 originating from London.

But Britain’s Foreign Office said it appeared the ‘accident’ was only a drill, and not a real accident.
