most expensive Christmas Tree Dec 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Despite the controversy in America over the political correctness of the Christmas Holiday Season, Christmas has arrived, with it’s correct name, in luxurious style, in the Muslim desert location of Abu Dhabi, in a glamorous hotel which unveiled their forty foot, eleven million dollar Christmas tree on Wednesday.

Hans Olbertz, who is the general manager of the Emirates Palace Hotel, stated It is the “most expensive Christmas tree ever,” with a “value of over 11 million dollars,” according to ‘AFP’.

Unveiled at the hotel’s inauguration, the huge faux evergreen was placed in the back rotunda of the hotel, wearing gold and silver bows, ornaments shaped like a bell, and tiny white lights. The value of the tree comes from the earrings, necklaces, and other pieces of jewelry which has been draped all around the Christmas tree’s branches. A total of one hundred and eighty one diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, pearls, and other precious stones adorn the mighty boughs.

Olbertz explained, “The tree itself about ten thousand dollars. The jewelry has a value of over eleven million dollars, I think 11.4 or 11.5. He went on to say that the hotel plans to contact Guinness about adding the Christmas tree to their Book of World Records.

Ironically, Olbertz said that the tree is not expected to cause any religious upset or offend anyone despite the fact that the united Arab Emirates are vastly Muslim. “It’s a very liberal country,” he added.
