Wichita, Apr 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Scott Roeder who had murdered one of US doctor’s who used to perform late abortions, successfully used his sentencing as a forum to voice his views. He argued at his sentencing that he thought that he had been chosen to obey ‘God’s Law’ to save babies. On Thursday Scott was sentenced to life in prison, bereft of any possibility of parole for half a century. Coincidentally this is also the longest sentence that is possible under the Kansas law for first-degree murder. He was also sentenced to an additional year behind bars, on each of the 2 counts of aggravated assault, as he had threatened two church ushers, when he was running away from the scene of crime.

The 52 years old inhabitant of Kansas – Scott Roeder had murdered George Tiller, as he thought that the doctor was disobeying the will of God, by killing the unborn babies. “I stopped him so he could not dismember another innocent baby. Wichita is a far safer place for unborn babies without George Tiller,” said Scott Roeder, about his crime.

After the sentencing, the family of the slain doctor released a statement that said that, “We only can hope that this sentence will serve as a deterrent to those who have conspired and continue to conspire to murder abortion providers. Certainly everything possible should be done by the prison system to insure that this man does not continue to foment hatred and violence from his prison cell.”
