92-Year-Old Woman Successfully Completes Honolulu Marathon

buriHonolulu, Dec 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) For 92-year-old Gladys “Glady” Burrill, the Honolulu Marathon which was held with much elan on Sunday, was nothing short of a dream come true. Not only did the elderly woman create a record of sorts by participating in the event considered to be the sixth largest marathon all across the globe, but she also hogged the limelight after finishing the marathon with much success to the sheer delight of her family as well as the other runners of the race. The Honolulu Marathon is one of the biggest events that takes place every year in the Hawaiian island on the second Sunday of the month of December.

With the large number of spectators watching the race with high anticipation, Gladys “Glady” Burrill went on to touch the finishing line in nine hours, 53 minutes and 16 seconds. After the 92-year-old woman was able to complete the race, she was presented with an orchid lei by Dr. Jim Barahal who is the president of the Honolulu Marathon. While reacting to the amazing feat achieved by the elderly woman, the marathon president added that Gladys “Glady” Burrill’s sheer perseverance is highly inspirational and it is absolutely unbelievable what the Oregon resident is doing even at this age.

Like every year, even this the Honolulu Marathon turned out to be a huge success with large number of participants taking part in it with the aim of winning the popular event. This year an estimated 22, 806 runners took part in the race which follows a route through downtown Honolulu and finally reaches its conclusion near Diamond Head.
