Colorado Wildfire Colorado, Sep 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Firefighters in Colorado are battling a blaze that threatens to become the most destructive in the history of Colorado. 8 people have been reported missing so far.

In just three days of burning, the blaze has managed to destroy some 136 homes and it is threatening to destroy even more. Currently, firefighters have managed to contain just 10 percent of the blaze with the rest way out of control. The blaze has razed down some 6,200 acres of land and the ten percent control that firefighters have achieved is the first success they have recorded since the inferno started.

The firefighters also had to battle angry rattle snakes and downed powers line in their bid to bring the fire under control. Already some 3,500 people have been evacuated from some 1,000 homes in the Boulder County. The fire broke out on Monday in a parched area near Boulder. Firefighters are accessing the total extent of damage caused by the inferno.

Officials say they have already spent over $2.1 million in battling the blaze. There are no confirmed deaths and firefighters say they were aided by cooler temperatures on Wednesday to bring 10% of the blaze under control.

The state of Colorado’s most destructive inferno happened in 2002 in southern Colorado when the inferno destroyed some 133 homes and a further 466 outbuildings over a land area of 138,000 acres. Though the current fires have affected far lesser land area, it has destroyed more homes that what happened in the 2002 inferno.
