Aug 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was a gruesome discovery by the Mexican marines on Tuesday when they found 72 corpses at a remote ranch near the U.S. border. The media reports that it is the biggest single discovery of its kind in Mexico’s increasingly bloody drug war. The marines came across the bodies of 58 men and 14 women who are thought to be migrant workers at the ranch in Tamaulipas state, 90 miles from Texas border.
The media reports that a migrant stumbled into a military checkpoint and led the authorities discover the biggest massacre so far in Mexico’s bloody drug war. The violent border state of Tamaulipas is a smuggling hub where a feud between drug rivals has pronounced lawlessness and fear among the people living there. The wounded migrant from Ecuador who escaped the killing ground told the authorities that his abductor’s identified themselves as Zetas, a drug gang whose control of parts are so brutal that even Mexicans do not travel in highways. One law enforcement official said that the marines gathered helicopters to raid the ranch and discovered the bodies, some of the dead bodies were slumped in the chairs where they had been shot.
The Mexican marines also found 21 assault rifles, shotguns and rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition, bulletproof vests and four pickups painted to resemble military vehicles. Marines arrested a minor who was a part of the Zetas. The authorities said that they are trying to find out if the victims had all been killed at the same time and the reason behind the massacre. The National Human Rights Commission in their recent survey revealed that some 1,600 migrants are kidnapped in Mexico each month.
