60-Year-Old Woman Dies During Bellevue Iowa Independence Day Parade

ioBellevue, July 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The fourth of July Independence Day celebration in Bellevue, Iowa took a tragic turn on Sunday during the Independence day parade. Two horses bolted out and galloped through the street tossing off the two passengers who were sitting on it and also injuring many other who had lined up to see the parade in Bellevue. The horses pulled the wagon for several blocks before coming to a stop.

The Bellevue Police has said that a 60-year-old Iowa woman was unable to sustain the injuries inflicted by the rampage and died at the University Of Iowa Hospital on Sunday evening. The news of the death of the woman was confirmed to media sources by Bellevue police Patrolman Brent Roling who however declined to identify the woman.

The horses bolted out all of a sudden at about 11a.m. after rubbing their head against each other and then ran through the parade route. Around 10,000 people had gathered by the sides of the parade route reportedly. The police reported that four people were hospitalized on Sunday in critical conditions, while five others were seriously hurt. Minor injuries were suffered by 14 other people. People had suffered broken bones, collapsed lung and head injuries reportedly.

The Independence Day parade in Bellevue, Iowa is a decades old tradition that is attended by thousands of people every year. On Sunday many children had lined up at the side of the route to collect sweets that were being tossed to them during the parade. Among the injured therefore many were children who had come to celebrate the Independence Day.
