There was an earthquake at Flores region with the magnitude of 5.2 on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 02:59:37 (UTC)-Coordinated Universal Time and 10:59:37 AM local time , reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.
The epicenter is 60 km (35 miles) ESE of Raba, Sumbawa, 265 km (165 miles) W of Ende, Flores,355 km (220 miles) ENE of Mataram, Lombok
1410 km (870 miles) ESE of JAKARTA, Java with the depth of 154.4 km (95.9 miles).
Flores region which is in Indonesia and located east of Sumbawa and Komodo, the west of Lembata and the Alor Archipelago and to the southeast is Timor. Towards, the South is the Sumba strait, is Sumba and to the north, beyond the Flores Sea, is Sulawesi. Flores is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Lesser Sunda Islands also known as “Nusa Tenggara” is a major region of Indonesia.
Flores , is also known as Komodo islands because the largest lizard in the world is found there. In 1992, the practice of feeding dragons stopped.
