braaNov 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last night “48 Hours Mystery” was aired on CBS and the audience saw “Barefoot Bandit” Colton Harris-Moore, an international criminal who gained notoriety for stealing planes and going on an international crime spree. The CBS program featured Colton Harris-Moore with exclusive interviews and 911 recordings of his previous crimes. In the documentary “Barefoot Bandit”, people who knew him spoke about Colton Harris-Moore’s crimes, media hypes but last night’s show mostly chronicled about how the cops caught him.

The “48 Hours Mystery” correspondents showed Colton Harris-Moore’s troubled childhood. In 2006, the 14-year-old boy began breaking into cars and empty homes, stealing food and even cash. The alleged suspect also used vacant homes as if they were his own, where he used to take shower, eat, etc. He then taught himself how to fly and then he began stealing planes and then crash landing them in the remote areas of Washington. Last night’s episode also featured interviews of the authorities and one of them said that Colton Harris-Moore committed more than 100 crimes in 19 years of his life.

Colton Harris-Moore got his nickname as “Barefoot Bandit” as he used to commit his crimes barefoot and then leave behind a chalk foot print at the crime scene. “48 Hours” investigator Paul Ciolino brought forward the court records in front of the audience where it was seen that nearly a dozen calls were made to child protective services before he turned 14. Paul Ciolino said that it was Colton Harris-Moore’s childhood which was responsible for his crimes. He said that teenager suffered physical and mental abuse in his growing up years.
