4-year-old preacher Kanon Tipton enthralls audiences
August 17th, 2011 - 12:38 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, Aug 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) At the age that so many people are learning to talk, Kanon Tipton was teaching others about Jesus Christ. The 4-year-old is regarded as the world’s youngest preacher but he has already done that for more than two years. The first time that Tipton held the microphone at his church was when he was just 21 months old.
At the age of four, Tipton has developed into a mature preacher capable of getting the congregation to rise on their feet and give him standing ovation. He appeared on NBC’s TODAY with his parents.
Incredibly, Tipton doesn’t get on the pulpit out of choice. He is prompted from the inside to preach and that is what strikes his father as phenomenon. He said that, “One word comes to mind, and I believe it’s ‘phenomenon.’ I really believe it’s a phenomenon in what Kanon does. It’s very unusual. I’ve never seen anything like it.’’
His mother, Kandi videotaped Tipton during one of his sermons and posted it on the Internet. The video has already been viewed more than four million times. National Geographic Channel has also featured Tipton in a documentary titled “Pint-Sized Preachers.’’
The show will premiere on the network on Wednesday.
