30 Year Old Mother Has Gastric Bypass Surgery and Dies
September 22nd, 2010 - 11:28 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonSep 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A young thirty year old, overweight mother has died after opting to undergo gastric bypass surgery because she was afraid her three year old daughter might be teased about her mom’s weight.
After the surgery, however, Kerry Greaves, from Tang Hall York in England continued to have complications. Her stomach would not heal, and despite many surgeries to try and save her life, she passed away on July 22, leaving behind her daughter, Melissa.
Kerry’s Mother stated, “Kerry never thought there would be any problems with the surgery and neither did we. She did it for her daughter. She didn’t want her to be picked on at school. She had [friends] who had had the operation and they were fine,” she continued. “She thought if they are fine I will be fine.” according to FOX News.
In a similar case which occurred in 2008, a 29 year old mother, Suzanna Murphy underwent the same type of surgery for her five year old son’s sake. She contracted the methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and died.
