2009 Vectren Dayton Air Show

daytonThe 2009 Vectren Dayton Air Show in Vandalia is going to be held over this weekend, on July 18(Saturday) and July 19 (Sunday) from 9 a.m to 6 p.m at the Dayton International Airport. Everyone is gearing up to attend the show and the advance preparation is in full swing. This year’s event is supposed to be drawing an overwhelming crowd of about almost 75,000 spectators to the air show venue. The tickets for the show are available to be purchased from Kroger stores or at the U.S. Air Force Museum, as well as the gate and can be bought by Visa or Master card. For adults it is priced at $19 and for youths (6- 11) and seniors it is $15. For children till the age of 5, entrance is free.

Almost 100 aircraft are supposed to be present at the air show and were on display at the grounds. The list was impressive and varying, ranging from fighters, private jets and bombers.

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Flight Team will be making an appearance in this year’s Dayton Air Show, as well as the world renowned U.S. Air Force Thunder birds and Brazilian Air Force Smoke Squadron will be there to showcase their histrionics. Other performances would be by USAF A- 10 Thunderbolt Demo, USN F 18 Super Hornet, USAF B-2 Spirit Fly by, USAF B-52 Stratofortress Fly by and static display, U.S. Army Apache Demo, USAF Heritage Flight: A- 10 Thunderbolt and P-51 Mustang, US Navy Legacy Flight: F- 18 Super Hornet and F4U Corsair, Sean D. Tucker, U.S. Army Golden Knights, Patty Wagstaff (known as the First Lady of Aerobatics), Tora-Tora-Tora, U.S. Air Force C- 17 Globemaster III Demonstration and quite a few more. As announcers, the famed Rob Reider and Danny Clisham will be present for the occasion.
