London, Sept 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 1941 British ship which was sunk by a Nazi torpedo has been discovered on the floor of the ocean. The cargo ship was spotted by the US marine hunting company Odyssey Marine Exploration on Monday.

The company announced that the ship was spotted about 4,700 meters below the surface of the sea. With the wreckage spotted, the explorers will now concentrate on bringing out the treasure that it contains.

When the ship was hit by the Nazi torpedo about 47 kilometers south west of Ireland, it was carrying about 240 tons of silver from India. The ship belonged to the Ministry of War Transport of Britain and only one of the crew who were in the ship survived the attack.

The treasure contained in the ship is estimated to be worth about £155m. Chief executive of Odyssey announced after the wreckage was spotted that the load in the ship will be brought out of the sea-bed in hatches.

The UK government is reportedly excited about the find and is urging Odyssey to speed up the treasure retrieval process. The government has reportedly told the firm that they should find more sunken British ships because the country could have a lot of uses for the revenue that will come in.
