Minneapolis, Jan 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Around 1.5 million Graco strollers are being recalled due to a defective hinge. This recall involves the brands Alano, Passage and the Spree strollers. There is a hinge on the side, which can amputate the child’s finger, if some one was trying to close or adjust the stroller at that point of time. This recall came into effect when Graco received 7 complaints. Out of these complaints, 5 little children had their fingertips amputated due to the coverless hinges.

When the consumers will return the product, then they would get a repair kit that would prevent any mishaps in the future. The repair kit basically consists of a hinge cover that prevents the baby’s fingertip from being amputated if some one is trying to close or adjust the stroller at that point of time.

The Graco strollers, which don’t have the hinge covers and are dangerous for babies were manufactured in China between October 2004 and February 2008. These to-be-recalled strollers were sold at AAFES, Burlington Coat Factory, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Kmart, Fred Meyer, Meijer, Navy Exchange, Sears, Target, Wal-Mart during the period October 2004 to December 2009.

Graco can be contacted at (800) 345-4109 (between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. CST Monday through Friday) and their website is at www.gracobaby.com
