Tijuana, Oct 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Mexican army has burnt the 134 tons of marijuana that was seized from drug traffickers in Tijuana on Monday.

The bust was the biggest in the history of Mexican and it is estimated that the cost of the destroyed drugs is around $200 million.

The drugs were seized on Monday after the army engaged in a shootout with the traffickers. It was contained in six cargo containers and authorities believe the bust will weaken the financial resolve of the cartel.

The Mexican drug Lords are notoriously brutal. Since the country launched an offensive against drug trafficking, some 24,000 Mexicans have lost their lives. Most of the dead are innocent citizens that were caught in the cross fire between the government army and the drug cartels. On other times, the citizens are targeted by the drug cartels.

The media in the country were invited into the military base where the burning took place to witness the activity. The president of the country, Felipe Calderon was full of praise for the army for the bust.

Authorities believe that the drug was owned by the most powerful drug cartel in Mexico, the Sinola.
