Ottawa, Feb 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Canadian officials have seized a container that had around $10 million worth of cocaine. An innocent looking container was shipped to Halifax, and when it was X-Rayed then it was found that it had over 440 pounds of cocaine.
The insane amount of 440 pounds is large enough to fulfill the needs of a whole neighborhood. The general practice of the Canadian police is that, they let the drug packets go through the intended recipient, and then they go and apprehend him. However in this case, the Canadian police didn’t follow their normal practice and apprehended the drug packet itself. They had no answer as to why they didn’t let the drug packet go through to the intended recipient, whom they could have arrested.
Drug addiction is a huge problem in Canada, and the city of Vancouver is a port city through which many drugs are smuggled in. Hastings and Main are the basic areas in which the drug problem is hugely rampant, and both these areas are a haven for drug addicts.
At a news conference, Andrew LeFrank, Nova Scotia director for the Canada Border Services Agency, said that, “Officers saw that there were six shapes in there that didn’t look like they would correspond with what the manifested cargo was supposed to be.”
