KABUL (BNO NEWS) — Seven security officials and three suicide bombers were killed on Sunday during clashes at the traffic police station in southeastern Afghanistan, officials said.

Pajhwok news agency reported that four policemen were killed and three civilians were injured, after suicide bombers stormed the traffic police department in Khost City and engaged in a gunbattle with the security personnel. According to an army official, three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and two others were injured when the militants opened fire for a second time.

Three suicide bombers were killed while a fourth was still putting up resistance, said the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai.

The Taliban took responsibility for the attack.

The attack comes a day after six medical students were killed and more than 20 others wounded in a suicide attack on a 400-bed military hospital in the heart of Kabul. The Taliban also claimed responsibility for the attack, but said 51 foreign trainers and Afghan doctors were killed.
