10-foot gator bites off Timothy Delano’s hand

Naples, July 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Wildlife officials in Florida said that a ten-foot alligator has bitten off the hand of a man. The man was swimming in the canal with his friends when the incident happened.

The 18-year-old Timothy Delano was rushed to the hospital after the incident. Hospital officials say he is responding very well to treatment. Doctors would try their best to fix the hand back after rescuers managed to retrieve the severed hand from the stomach of the alligator. The gator was not hurt during the incident.

The incident happened on Sunday night at 9:30 pm. Delano was reportedly swimming with three other friends when the gator struck suddenly. His friends managed to rescue him from the gator and they swam to the shore from where they drove to a gas station to get help for the injured Timothy.

Delano was flown in a helicopter to the hospital for emergency medical aid.

Wildlife officials have issued a warning about swimming in the freshwater canals during this time of the year. They warn that gators are more active during this period and most especially during the time of dawn and dusk.
