superman New York, Feb 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The No. 1 issue of “Action Comics,” which features Superman and was originally priced at 10 cents has reportedly been sold to an anonymous collector for 1 million USD on Monday. This price for a single comics book has toppled the previous record holder comic book which was auctioned and sold for 317,200 USD in 2009.

The auction was done by an anonymous collector who had this 1938 1st edition of “Action Comics”. The comic book was put on auction at the famous website Comic Connect which is co-owned by Stephen Fishler. Stephen Fishler said that the transaction was carried out in the website just within a few minutes of its being put for sale. It is thought that 100 copies of this comics book are available. However, very few are in a good condition. The comic book which fetched $1 million to its owner is one of the old comic books that is still in good condition.

According to Stephen Fishler, the No. 1 edition of “Action Comics” is considered as the Holy Grail for the comic books collector and a book as old as this and in such a fine condition is a rare opportunity not to be missed. Therefore the Monday’s buy is surely “a milestone,” according to Stephen Fishler. Though the website has not revealed the name of either the seller or the buyer, it does state that the seller is a “well known individual” who has a good collection of very rare comics. The “$1 million” buyer according to him is a well known client of the auction website and has previously bought another “Action Comic,” No. 1. The sale price of the “Action Comics,” No. 1 which has at its cover page the picture of Superman Lifting a car comes as a shock to many collectors who find the price stunning.
