1 million Maclaren strollers recalled due to faulty hinge

Long Buckby, Nov 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Maclaren is all set to recall its stroller, after a concern that children’s finger-tips can get cut in it. Stroller maker Maclaren is set to recall 1 million strollers sold since 1999, according to news report. This huge recall move comes after 12 children reportedly had their fingertips amputated by the strollers.
Consumer Product Safety Commission tested the strollers following the numerous complaints. ‘The company, Maclaren Strollers, had received 15 reports of children placing their fingers in the hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports of fingertip amputation’, the safety commission said.
“Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled strollers,” the safety commission advised. Parents were told that they should stop using the product immediately and instead get a free repair kit to cover the hinge could be obtained by contacting Maclaren.
The affected 1 million strollers were being retailed at Babies “R” Us, Target and other retailers in the United States from the time period of 1999 to November 2009. The strollers were distributed by Maclaren USA, Inc of South Norwalk, Conn., and were manufactured in China.
