DES MOINES, IOWA (BNO NEWS) – Iowa awarded $1,022,000 in grants for an events center in Orange County and a community center in Buffalo Center, Governor Chet Culver announced on Thursday.

The grant comes from the I-JOBS initiative and was approved by the Vision Iowa Board. The projects were also approved by the Community Attraction and Tourism Fund (CAT).

“The benefits of these projects are two-fold. They will put people to work immediately and will have lasting impacts on their communities,” said Culver.

“The Orange City Events Center is part of a larger project that will transform the community. The architecture will blend seamlessly with the city’s distinctive Dutch character,” said Vision Iowa Board Chairwoman Regenia Bailey.

The Orange City events center will consist in a new two-story center facility. It will include old-world European and Northern Plains historical architecture and landscaping design to complement Orange City’s Dutch/Netherlands character.

The Heritage Town Center will include the construction of a 9,600-square-foot structure that will house a museum space, banquet hall, kitchen area, bathrooms, and storage areas.
