November 19th, 2009 - 2:00 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )London, Nov 19 (ANI): The auctioning of items belonging to late Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge is said to have so far fetched four million euros with two more days left for the sale.
Auction house Christie’s had estimated the total value of the auction to be between three to four million euros, but the bidding prices are said to have risen beyond the expected, reports the Telegraph.
People were clamouring to own a piece of the late French fashion designer’s belongings, and even the couple’s pots and pans, which were estimated to be worth 700 to 1,000 euros, sold for 15,000 euros.
Even a quirky five-piece suite of furniture in antler worth 6,000 to 8,000 euros sent the final price flying to 169,000 euros.
A total of 1,185 objects, most of them from the pair’s country hideaway on the Normandy coast, went under the hammer on November 17 in a four-day sale winding up November 20. (ANI)
