Washington, March 6 (ANI): Young Mexican police chief Marisol Valles Garcia, who accepted to be in charge of one of state’s most dangerous drug war border towns, has reportedly fled the city to seek asylum in the US.

Garcia, 20, is the only person to agree to take the job in Praxedis G. Guerrero where local cops have quit or been killed, reports the CSMonitor.

The area has been marked by drug violence, including the murder of her predecessor.

Now according to an agency reports, relatives of Garcia have said that the young police has fled the city amid mounting threats to her life.

She has purportedly been receiving death threats from criminal gangs who wanted her to work for them.

However, town officials are denying reports that Garcia has fled her post.

Also, CBS reports has it that town Secretary Andres Morales told the El Paso Times that the police chief was taking personal leave to be with her child and would return on Monday. (ANI)
