Yemeni air force attack Al-Qaeda strongholds, 12 killed
October 5th, 2011 - 7:53 am ICT by IANSAden, Oct 5 (IANS) Warplanes of the Yemeni air force launched several air strikes Tuesday on a number of Al- Qaeda strong holds, killing at least 12 terrorists and injuring dozens of others in the southern Abyan province, a military official said.
According to the military official, who requested anonymity, two successful air strikes bombed an Al-Qaeda stronghold in the Jaar city, Abyan’s second largest city, which remains held by the terrorist group since late May, Xinhua reported.
Meanwhile, another military source said fierce battles were going on between Al-Qaiea militants and army units in the eastern areas of Zinjibar city, the provincial capital of Abyan till last reported.
