‘World’s worst’ wedding photographer sued over ‘wonky’ shots of big day
March 21st, 2011 - 7:03 pm ICT by ANILondon, Mar 21 (ANI): British couple Martin and Heidi Shubrook claim they paid photographer Clayton Bennett hundreds of pounds to record the wedding but were left in tears over the disastrous coverage.
Treasured moments like the signing of the register, cutting of the cake and the newlyweds’ first steps out the church were all missing, reports the Telegraph.
The footage of the wedding mostly featured feet and backs of the guests, and many were taken too far away to make out the faces.
The photographer reportedly even managed to include people who were not at the wedding.
Bennet, of Howden, County Durham, told the couple he could deliver a professional package to capture their special day forever, and was paid 350 pounds to video their wedding in July 2009.
However, the bride and groom started to doubt their choice of their wedding cameraman when he turned up looking scruffy and disshevelled.
But as he was the owner of Lasting Impressions video and photography services, based in Sunderland, they assumed he knew what he was doing.
That was until they saw the results.
It was then that the couple started a year-long battle to bring the cameraman, later trading as We Photograph Your Wedding, to the Small Claims Court for breach of contract.
A judge sitting at Durham County Court found in the couple’s favour and ordered Bennett to pay a total of 600 pounds, including a 150 pounds refund to the couple, court costs and travel expenses.
Bennett, who has since declared himself bankrupt and said he has ceased trading, agreed to pay back the money in 20 pounds instalments.
The couple, however, said they have not received a penny. (ANI)
